Actor Bill Cosby aka William Henry Cosby, Jr. was born in 1937.

Before retiring, Cosby worked as a stand-up comedian, an actor and an author for over 60 years.

Cosby’s The Cosby Show was the number one American television show from 1985 to 1989.

Cosby also found success with his animated characters in Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids.

Cosby was branded as “America’s Dad” for his kind, thoughtful and caring portrayal of Cliff Huxtable.

In 2018, Cosby was jailed in Pennsylvania after a trial for three counts of aggravated indecent assault.

He went to prison.

Those convictions were set aside in June of 2021 by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court as Cosby’s due process rights were violated by the government.

Cosby made a statement that he continued to maintain his innocence.

Phylicia Rashad drew criticism on social media for supporting the decision to release Cosby.

The prosecution continues to make statements that the decision was not an affirmation of Cosby’s innocence; it was just a decision that the prosecution had violated Cosby’s constitutional rights.

Cosby served two years of the ten year sentence.

If he had not been released Cosby, at 83 years of age and in poor health, would have died in prison.

Cosby had testified in a civil deposition in return for immunity in these three cases.

The new prosecutor decided not to honor the previously granted immunity in violation of the law.

Cosby cannot be retried for these offenses.
